Wardrobe Must-Have: Popa’s Handcrafted Shoes

Silva Digital

When putting together a capsule wardrobe, it’s always smart to pick pieces that are not only multifunctional, durable, comfortable, but also those that never go out of style. A classic wardrobe is never complete without some footwear staples, among these are flats and wedges.

Popa, with its rich story, is well-loved for its handcrafted flats and platform sandals that bring the spirit of the Mediterranean to every woman whose shoe story tells of fun edginess and classic femininity.

Bringing the True Spirit of Mediterranean

In 2015, the Lucas brothers founded Menorquinas Popa. Equipped with their 25 years of experience in the shoe business, they began their mission to maintain the traditional process of handcrafting all their shoes, incorporating new trends and colours to go with today's fashion along the way.

Since Popa has its own 2000-square-metre factory in Elche, Alicante, Spain, the founders have complete control over the details, design, materials, and production of their shoes and bags. This makes every piece a 100% Mediterranean product and a result of high-quality creation and intricate inspection.

Through Antipodas Brands, the made in Spain shoes from Popa are brought to Australia.

The Beauty of Handcraft

One of the things that make Popa exceptionally endearing to shoe-lovers is the fact that it is handcrafted.

Handmade is practically synonymous with high quality because the maker understands the value of each piece. It’s a labour of love and skill, and the craftsmanship itself tells a story of thoughtfulness and dedication to bring nothing short of perfect. Each item has been thought out from the beginning to execution, from how it would look being worn to how durable it should be.

Popa’s Signature Designs

Since its inception, Popa has never ceased coming up with new designs that are practical for everyday use whilst keeping up with the trends. While the brand now offers boots, sneakers, and other essential footwear, it remains to be the go-to for laid-back, carefree sandals that carry distinct Mediterranean touches, perfect for completing any look, from sundresses to flowy plants. With padded insoles, these signature designs from Popa are sure to bring comfort and style in one.

Taking Care of Your Popa Shoes

To make the most of your handcrafted Popa shoes, it’s imperative to handle them with care. From storing to clean, here are things you should remember:

  • Don't just leave your Popa shoes in the wardrobe after wearing them. Instead, use the designated box and bag to store them.
  • Popa shoes come with their own personalised shoe shaper. Use the shaper when you’re not wearing the shoes to keep the material in perfect condition.
  • If there are any stains in your Popa leather shoes, clean them with a cloth dampened with water and neutral soap.
  • For Popa shoes with patent leather, clean with a chamois cloth so as not to cause damage to the material. You can moisten the cloth with a bit of water, and gently rub it over the stained area. Make sure it does not remain wet, so dry it with a clean towel. Rub to shine.
  • For split leather, use dust-repellent spray. Then, use a shoe sponge to dry-clean.
  • To clean synthetic leather Popa, use a water-dampened cloth and neutral soap.
