Painless Fashion: The Advantages of Wearing Wedges

Nothing feels more elegant and empowering than strutting down in high, skinny stilettos. But let’s be real. Most of the time, we would prefer wearing our good old black wedges over those high heel shoes that kill our feet. After all, what’s not to love about wedges? They look gorgeous and make you feel gorgeous! Apart from how stunning they are, here are a few more advantages of wearing wedges.

Wedges could be just as comfortable as your flat shoes.

We love how our flat shoes give us that all-day comfort, but they’re just, well, flat. Luckily, wedges give that same comfort with an added lift. Wedges are the best alternative to heeled sandals because they are generally more comfortable and give more support for your foot’s arch. This makes your weight evenly distributed on your sole.

We recommend cork wedges such as the Ronda Red Leather Cork Wedge. The wedges are made from natural recycled cork material, plus they have a soft padded leather insole for extra comfort.

They make you look taller.

We know this is pretty obvious, but it’s still worth mentioning. Wedge shoes make you look taller. A lot of people love wearing wedges because they get to flaunt what they’ve got with the height of high heel sandals without compromising comfort.

When it comes to looking taller, we personally love white espadrille wedges like the Maui White & Mandorla Leather Espadrille Wedge. The heel measures approximately 7 cm, comfy with an edge – just how we like it!

They’re more stable than heeled sandals.

When your foot touches more surface area, it takes some of the strain off the ball of your foot. Plus, wedges have more cushion which lets your feet be somewhat protected from the ground.

Another reason why wedges are more stable is that they allow your weight to be evenly distributed throughout the sole. The block heel provides your wedges with more stability.

They support your arch.

Since wedges demand a fuller footprint, your arch won’t have to support the entire foot while trying to stay balanced on a heel as thin as a pencil. Plus, as we said, your weight will be evenly distributed on your sole – thus reducing the pain on the balls of your feet. Say goodbye to saying “My feet are killing me” every minute!

They’re better for your body.

Beauty shouldn’t equal pain. Wedges give you that stylishness without any added pain. We have mentioned how a wedge shoes’ design evenly distributes your weight and how it provides more support to your arch. But allow us to emphasise how it can overall be good for your body.

Wedges have been found to relax the calf muscle a bit, reducing the linked tension on the plantar fascia. Compared to heels, they have a greater base of support and are generally not as high up.

They’re great to be worn anywhere – even the beach!

Events like beach weddings are always fabulous, but high heel sandals with unbelievably thin heels just won’t be suitable for the location. Luckily, wedges provide that same fashion, comfort, and height even on the sand.

Since wedges are more stable, they would be a great option if you want that added height at the beach. Our personal favourite is the Congo Raffia & Tan Leather Wedge. This timeless classic has an elegant ankle strap and a 7-cm heel. PS: Not just for beach weddings, wedged sandals are also great for garden weddings where the grass may be a bit soft and damp.

They’re great with just about any outfit.

Wedges are so fashionable that you can actually wear them with almost anything. Pair your wedges with a nice floral dress or your good old shorts, or maybe a pair of jeans or a comfy skirt. When you have a great pair of wedges, the possibilities are endless!

If you’re getting your basic anything-goes pair, try something that’s more neutral or perhaps a pair of white wedges like the Congo White Leather Espadrille Wedge. It would look absolutely amazing with almost any outfit.

The best thing about wedges is that they have everything we want in a shoe: comfort, elegance, and practicality. Get yourself a pair of wedges now and see what we’re talking about!
